Moyuru Shiroma grew up on a small tropical island, Okinawa, Japan. Through his vibrant works, he seeks to express emotions and convey a sense of “energy” and “fun” inherent in art. His art is characterized by a multi-layered expression that arises from the interaction between his paintings on canvas and his presence or performance.

He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Tohoku University of Art & Design and then continued his studies at a college in New York. During his time at school, he received numerous awards in the field of visual arts, showcasing his talent. While he understands the importance of messages conveyed by artists such as Andy Warhol and Banksy, who use social satire in their work, his approach focuses on bringing joy and energy to people.

His works create moments that make viewers smile through cuteness and fun while highlighting the significance of accepting the shadows of human existence. By incorporating elements of black and gray alongside bright colors, he balances joy and suffering, reflecting the multifaceted aspects of life.

He emphasizes the importance of connections and empathy through art, providing viewers the opportunity to reflect on their inner selves and their relationship with society. Ultimately, it brings him great joy to know that his works can be a source of “energy” for people, offering small joys in their daily lives. He continues to share his unique art style through exhibitions and collaborations with companies.
